	Sealed HEPA Filtration System

This Miele's sealed HEPA filtration system helps reduce recirculation of dust and allergens back into your home. A 4.9 Qt. IntensiveClean dustbag and a secondary filter clean the air before it enters the motor. Following the motor the air is additionally cleaned by the large area fan-fold HEPA exhaust filter. This 6-stage filtering system enhances the filtering ability while extending the filter media's life span. It prevents large particles from reaching and blocking the exhaust filter, saving it for critical particle retention.

The large area fan-fold HEPA exhaust filter has a seal around it so that air and small particles can't bypass it. Additional seals within the case ensure that the sub-micrometer dust you pick up actually reaches the high filtration exhaust filter and is not blown out through minute cracks in the case or around the exhaust filter like many competing cleaners with high filtration exhaust filters.

	Durable Clean-Air Design

A key feature which all Miele uprights incorporate is the clean-air system design. The air flow which picked up the dirt is cleaned by the filtering system before it passes through the fan of the suction motor. This design eliminates fan breakage problems which can be caused when objects are picked up by a dirty-air system. 	Variable Speed 12 Amp. Motor

Strong suction and rigorous carpet agitation powered by its 12 Amp. motor combine in the Miele S184 to deep-clean carpet as well as all other surfaces. The electronic motor speed control allows for the reduction of power where needed for cleaning drapes, slip covers, etc. Featuring lifetime lubricated ball bearings and well balanced motor parts, it will perform quietly for many years. 	Unique Brush Roll

The Miele S184 has a brush roll with two rows of bristles plus two rows of beater bars. In addition to this, there are active edge bristles which enhance edge cleaning by brushing very close to the baseboard. The use of permanently lubricated ball bearings eliminates the need to replace sleeve bearings when they fail due to excessive wear.

	Convenient Rug/Bare Floor Switch

The revolving brush roll can easily be stopped with a flip of the Rug/Bare Floor switch, enabling you to go directly from cleaning carpet to cleaning vinyl or wood floors. This is important since a revolving brush roll can whip the small grit and dirt behind the machine before the air flow has a chance to pick it up. This switch also functions to stop the brush roll during the time you use the attachments. This prevents bed spreads, throw rugs, etc. from accidentally being caught in the vacuum cleaner while your attention is on the furniture being cleaned.

	Automatic Carpet Height Adjustment

The Miele S184 upright has automatic carpet height adjustments. The weight of the main housing is carried on the two rear wheels, allowing the fairly light nozzle to float on the top of the carpet. This design makes them very maneuverable around furniture as well as convenient when going from one carpet to another. When the handle is moved to the vertical position for using the attachments, the agitator is automatically raised out of the carpet nap. This is helpful as well when you want to pause a moment to move a piece of furniture without turning off the cleaner.

	Built-In Attachments

The Miele S184 has its dusting brush conveniently tucked away in the back of its case where it is always easily accessible. To further save space, the extra-long crevice tool stores inside the wand. By using a 3:1 stretch hose, the distance which the air must travel when cleaning floors is shortened, reducing internal resistance and increasing air flow. To extend the total reach to 10 feet, the crevice tool can function as an extension wand since the other attachments fit on it as well as on the 7' stretch hose or wand. We recommend purchasing the optional upholstery nozzle for cleaning upholstered furniture, carpeted stairs, etc.
