Power nozzles are special attachments designed to greatly improve the
carpet cleaning ability of canister type vacuums. A canister with power
nozzle is sometimes called a "power team". This type of nozzle has a
motor-driven revolving brush roll
which grooms the carpet to aid in the removal of the deeper dirt. Having
an electric motor of its own, power nozzles add about 10% more power to a
typical canister vacuum.
Miele typically uses "Powerbrushes" as the name for their power
nozzles. They offer two basic powerbrushes, a smaller one with long soft
bristles which are more gentle on the carpet fibers and a larger, more
aggressive one which effectively cleans all heights of carpets, not just
low to medium ones. Miele even has a version of their smaller one which is
powered by long-lasting, rechargable metal hydride (NiMh) batteries. The
various model numbers reflect the two sizes, electrical connections and
the different tab arrangements on the wand connector (elbow) which mate
with the parking slots in the different model series.
Turbine nozzles are similar to power nozzles in that they improve the
carpet cleaning ability of canister type vacuums. This type of nozzle has
a turbine-driven revolving brush roll
which grooms the carpet to aid in the removal of the deeper dirt. Since
the turbine draws its power from the vacuum's
air flow, it doesn't add to the
vacuums power like a power nozzle does. The amount of torque available
from a turbine is typically much less than that of an electric motor so
the brush roll slows significantly more when placed on a carpet. The
positive side of turbine nozzles is that you don't need a special hose to
provide electric to the nozzle so they can be used with most canister
vacuums.
Miele typically uses "Turbobrushes" as the name for their turbine
nozzles. They offer one basic turbobrush for carpets which has long soft
bristles that are fairly gentle on the carpet fibers. They also offer a
smaller, hand-held turbobrush which is great for cleaning carpeted stairs
and upholstered furniture. The various model numbers reflect the different
tab arrangements on the wand connector (elbow) which mate with the parking
slots in the different model series.
Miele provides high quality hoses which are tested for a typical life
span of twenty years. Due to the various series of Miele canister vacuums
and powerbrushes, they provide quite a few different hose configurations.
The electric hoses have wiring built into them to provide electrical power
to the powerbrushes. Some of these are made to direct connect to the
SET 220 Electric Wand with its
internal electrical wiring so you don't have any external cords on the
hose, wand and powerbrush. The standard, non-electric hoses can be used
where a powerbrush is not needed. Please see the List of Miele Hoses for

provides the quick disconnect feature both at its top and bottom. When the
wand is attached between the electric hose and powerbrush, the electrical
connections are made automatically. This provides electric to the
powerbrush without having any external cords between the vacuum cleaner

designed to work well with all Miele canisters and uprights where the attachments

This same Turbobrush is also know by the number STB 201.
This new Miele Dusting Brush with Swivel #SUB 20 is great for cleaning all
hard surfaces including ledges and cabinet tops. Its long sleek design enables
it to cover larger areas with a sideways sweeping motion. The tapered area with
bristles is 2" wide and 6" long with 7/8" long, soft bristles. The main body is
flexible vinyl so it is like having a bumper all over it to protect your furniture. This genuine Miele attachment is designed to work well with all Miele canister
hoses and wands where the attachments fit over them. The enlarged section
of the connector will fit over the electrical receptical on the electric
wands or mating electric hose handles, protecting it. All Miele vacuums in their S4 series as well as the Ariel and Pisces in the
S5 series have the option of removing the hose handle and attaching the hose
directly to this attachment, producing a nice, more flexible configuration. This
universal dusting brush will also fit well on the Miele S7 upright series wand
but will not fit tightly on its hose. It will not fit the Miele
Powerhouse uprights since their attachments fit inside the hose.

This extra-long Genuine Miele 22" Flexible Crevice Tool
#SFD 20 is designed for use on Miele hoses and wands where the
attachments fit over them. The
unique construction consists of a long soft vinyl
center section with rigid high impact ends,
making it quite durable yet flexible. This crevice tool
is great for reaching under refrigerators, behind
old fashioned radiators and other hard to reach
areas.
This crevice tool will not fit the Miele Powerhouse
upright series since their attachments fit inside the
hose and wand. If you need one for them, purchase the

to fit 1 1/4" hoses plus the Upright to 1 1/4" Tool Adapter.

This is a combination tool with a top mounted foot pedal to
switch between carpets and bare floors. For bare floors
brush strips long the front and back pop out to provide
a soft, non-scratching brushing action. Notches along
the front allow dirt to easily enter the nozzle. For carpets
and rugs, the brush strips are retracted, allowing the
channeled steel sole plate to contact the carpet,
pulling air through the nap to clean it. This tool has a rather unique design, being 11.5" wide and 4" deep,
with a multi-joined elbow and roller assembly. A heavy duty rubber roller
is positioned at the base of the elbow, carrying the weight and downward
pressure of the wand. A special pivot enables the nozzle itself to
self-adjust to the carpet height or bare floor while keeping level at all
times. The elbow has a vertical pivot which adjusts to a wide range of
wand angles, effortlessly adjusting to your personal stature. It even
pivots sideways like most floor tools for cleaning under low furniture.
The elbow has one long tab which holds this nozzle
securely in the parking slots on the Miele S4 and S5
series canisters. It is wider and more deluxe than the SBD 450-3 Floor Nozzle that
comes with some Miele S4 canisters.

This deluxe Rug and Floor Tool came with earlier Miele canisters which did
not have a carpet nozzle with revolving brush roll. It is designed as a
combination tool with a top mounted lever to switch between carpets and
bare floors. For bare floors, a brush strip around the perimeter pops out
to provide a soft, non-scratching brushing action. Notches along the front
allow dirt to easily enter the nozzle. For carpets and rugs, the brush
strip is recessed, allowing the channeled steel sole plate to contact the
carpet, pulling air through the nap to clean it.
This tool has a rather unique design, being 11.5" wide and 4" deep,

This genuine Miele floor brush is specifically
designed for cleaning Parquet floors although it will also work well on all bare floors. It is 12" wide having
brush strips around its edges. Notches in
the front brush strip allow dirt to easily enter the nozzle.
The wand connector elbow has a 2-way swivel which
enables the nozzle to remain level even when the
vacuum's wand is completely vertical, enabling you to
easily clean between close furniture.
The elbow has a long tab on its elbow to mate with
the parking slots on the Miele S5 and S4 Galaxy Series
canister vacuums.

With the advent of beautiful Parquet floors, Miele has designed a
floor brush for gently cleaning them. This is the deluxe floor brush on
Miele S500i and S600i series vacuum cleaners which are designed to be used
with with carpet nozzles having revolving brush rolls. This special
Parquet-2 floor brush is 12" wide and 2.5" deep, having brush strips with
long, soft bristles along the front and back edges of
the nozzle. Wheels on the sides between the brush strips carry the weight
and downward pressure on the nozzle, allowing the bristles to glide on the
floor without being flattened. Notches in the front brush strip allow dirt
to easily enter the nozzle. The elbow pivots sideways like most floor
tools for cleaning under low furniture. Two tabs on the back of the elbow
allows this tool, the wand and hose to be held by the parking slot on the
back or side of the Miele S400i and S500i series canisters.
This floor brush can also be used instead of the SBB Parquet
floor brush which is the same except it has only one tab on the elbow. This
SBB Parquet-2 Parquet floor brush also mates perfectly with the parking
slots on the Miele vacuums in their S200i, S300i and S400i series.
