Features in the shaded boxes are the same for all three models. All have Electronic Suction Motor Speed Controls that are adjusted by hand with a dial on top of the vacuum. All these canisters have three soft wheels which swivel 360° to enhance maneuverability while protecting your floors.

The hose inlets are designed to enable the hose to swivel 360°. The electric hose on the Miele Plus has a short cord which must be manually plugged into a receptical near the vacuum's handle. The electric hose used on the Miele S514 Direct Connect and S516 Dog & Cat Vacuum automatically makes the electrical connections when it is attached to the vacuum and when the Direct Connect Electric Wand is attached to it.

The powerbrush on the Miele Plus has an external cord which must be manually clipped onto the wand and plugged into a receptical on the hose. The powerbrush on the Miele S514 Direct Connect and S516 Cat & Dog Vacuum automatically makes the electrical connections when it is attached to the wand or hose. This is a much more convenient configuration.

All Miele vacuums in this series have completely sealed systems so all the air must pass through all the filters to be cleaned by them. The Miele Plus can only be used with the Super Air Clean exhaust filter. It can not be equipped with an Active Certified HEPA nor Active Air Clean exhaust filter like most other Miele canisters. Even so, the quality of the exhausted air is quite good, significantly better than most other brands.
